Dog training Program done by wounded vets. The program was conceived when Washington shelter dog walkers would bump into soldiers who are rehabilitating at walter reed Army Medical Center.
Lisa LaFontaine President of the Washington Humane Society who first enunciate the program idea. It gave her the opportunity to bring animals and people together.
Kevin Simpson training director who will be teaching the course to volunteer wounded vets. They claim that being around sheltered dogs is a calming experience
far from the war front and fighting. These vets seemed to be drawn to the dogs when their around them. They feel like their doing something to help the dogs. Who knows maybe one of them will go into the dog training or shelter dogs.
Dogs are considered man's best friend. They give unconditional love to their care givers.
Many of the soldiers need this therpy to get them back in touch with their human side.
The wounded vets are finding comfort from being around dogs and training them.
They feel their helping the dog as well as themselves.
